Friday Sept 20, 2013 Three Kinds of Prophets 2 Chro. 20:20; Jer. 14:14, Matt. 7:15-22; 24:11 Once in a while, a particular office in the five fold ministry becomes emphasized because of the operation of God. Years ago, it was the office of a pastor and everyone wanted to be a pastor even those who are not called into the office of a pastor. People were starting churches and even evangelists and different other men called of God genuinely began to veer off into the office of a pastor because it was the emphasis then. Today, the emphasis or the spotlight, so to speak, is the prophet’s office; so many people pose as prophets. However, there are three kinds of prophets: 1. The genuine prophet that God Himself called 2. The false genuine prophets of the devil 3. The scam or 419 prophets The genuine prophet has genuine power of the Holy Spirit backing his work. He operates in word of wisdom and word of knowledge, not just the gift of prophecy alone. I always make it a note to mention that the intensity of the calling of a prophet is like the sun’s brightness at noonday, while the intensity of the light of a prophetic vessel – a believer that prophesies – is like that of a candle. If you just prophesy in the measure of a believer, continue but don’t arrogate the office of a prophet to yourself. The second type of prophet is the genuine prophet of the devil; he also has the genuine power of the devil backing him up. These are people that have entered a league with the devil and the supernatural operations in their assembly are not of God but of the devil. I make it a point to advise young ministers of God that you don’t have to operate in spectacular gifts of the spirit. You just abide by your measure and if you are faithful at it, God will add more to you. Don’t seek power, but seek God. It’s very important to first be a man of the Bible before you become a man of the spirit so that you can be a safe minister of God. The third is the scam or fraud prophet. These prophets thrive because they feed on the foolishness of people. They feed the people’s desire for the spectacular and then they try to feed their fantasies. These people are good psychologists. They say things like, “some of you have stomach ache”, and in an assembly of 100 people, 20 people will most likely have stomach ache based on different reasons of course. God doesn’t know these scam prophets, the devil doesn’t know them either. They are usually out for quick money, so beware that you are not a victim of a scam prophet. These people will ask you to come at odd hours. Never be alone with someone who calls himself a man of God. Make sure you meet such people in an open place, check the fruits of their lives because the Bible says by their fruits you shall know them. You can fake the gifts of the spirit but you cannot fake the fruits. Be warned. Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see my prophet in the name of Jesus. That I will not miss out on what God has for me in the name of Jesus, amen. Daily Bible Reading: Isaiah 33:10-36:22, Galatians 5:13-26, Psalm 64:1-10, Proverbs 23:23
