Friday, September 26 2014 Result: Straight Thinking - 6th Mizzen Mast x Hachita / Grey Filly 20/2/11 Form: 122-206 Andre Fabre / Maxime Guyon 2:20 - Saint-Cloud - Prix Coronation (Listed) - 8f Straight Thinking was unable to take advantage of the drop in grade on her first start following a Summer break. The half-sister to Announce was settled in rear for a late run by Maxime Guyon but she didnt get a clear passage in the home straight although she did finish well inside the final 100yrds; the Mizzen Mast filly has always finished her races off well and I think a step up in trip will be on the cards after this. Result: Northern Solstice - 1st Shamardal x Winter Solstice / Bay Colt 23/4/11 Form: 121 Pascal Bary / Christophe-Patrice Lemaire 1:20 - Saint-Cloud - Conditions - ext.10f This is a nice colt. Northern Solstice found himself back in the winners enclosure with an all the way victory at Saint-Cloud this afternoon. The son of Shamardal was in front from the moment he exited the stalls and he found plenty for pressure once challenged in the home; he will have to be stepped up in class from now on and there is every possibility that he has a Group race or two in him, especially next season. Result: Mooring Mast - 4th Mizzen Mast x Arboreta / Grey Colt 21/2/12 Form: 4 David Smaga / Grégory Benoist 1:50 - Saint-Cloud - Maiden - 8f This was a good start from Mooring Mast. The grey son of Mizzen Mast was well to the fore from the early stages until finding himself getting tapped for toe as the pace increased with two furlongs to go although he did rally and got back up for fourth crossing the line; the front three pulled nicely clear but the Juddmonte colt didnt shape too badly and has races in him. Result: Capsize - 4th Showcasing x Change Course / Bay Colt 3/2/12 Form: 64 Sir Michael Stoute / James Doyle 7:20 - Wolverhampton - Maiden - ext.7f It looked as though Capsize didnt learn a great deal from his debut as he once again looked green tonight and ultimately he was unable to make any impression. He looked to be struggling to go the pace from an early stage and even once he found room in the straight, having been locked away on the inside, he couldnt pick up; he will struggle to win a maiden and looks more of a handicap project further down the line. Result: Nonchalant - TBA Oasis Dream x Comeback Queen / Grey Gelding 19/3/11 Form: 182724 Dermot Weld / Pat Smullen 9:10 - Dundalk - Conditions - ext.10f I will update this result after Nonchalant has run.
