Friday Thoughts “But the word of God is not chained.” (2 Tim. 2:9) “Lord, help me to follow and trust You in all things… If a religious impulse is from the Lord, no power on earth can stop it; if it is not from the Lord, it will fade away.” (Living Faith, 10/13) Yes, Father. That’s how I know you are not pleased when I neglect to speak up for You. You gently remind me of my missed opportunity. I am so sorry, Lord, for having let You down. You know I am truly repentant, and I ask You for another chance. I thank You for Your mercy, Your forgiveness and Your love. “Lord, I do believe. Help Thou my unbelief.” (Mk. 9:24) “The Beauty of My Kingdom is its growth… Go on from strength to strength… The faulty marble, cast aside, may regard itself as perfect, not needing the cutting and shaping of the Sculptor. Learn a lesson from this.” (God Calling, 10/13) Father, help me to receive and welcome the cutting and scraping I need from your Hands. “One day, Moses went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor.” (Ex.2:11) “After the first strike for God and for the right, God…sent Moses into the desert to feed sheep for forty years… If you are going through a time of discouragement, there is a big personal enlargement ahead!” (My Utmost for His Highest, 10/13) We all need a time of preparation before we can do the work God has planned for us. God cut and scraped on Moses for those forty years before He had him stand up to Pharaoh and demand the freedom of his people. Even Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness before He began his public ministry. “Mary has chosen the better part.” (Lk. 10:42) “Jesus’ gentle rebuke to Martha was meant to help her to recognize how needless her anxiety was. He appreciated Martha’s loving care, but He told her that the only thing she really needed to do was enjoy His company. When you’re occupied with the necessary tasks of daily life, try your best to serve with love, as Martha did. But also be careful not to lose sight of Jesus… Jesus, come be my guest! I want to welcome You into the house of my heart, and make a home for You there.” (Word Among Us, 10/8) What a truly generous God we have. I thank Him and give glory to Him for the way in which He keeps teaching me to look for His blessings especially at times when things look their darkest. “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but none shall be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” (Lk. 11:29) “Like Nineveh, our cities and towns need revival as well. People need to turn from sin to the Lord. This is a…call to believe that our Father has the power to work miracles. We need to believe that He really can bring people to repentance and a living faith in Him. And it’s not only that He can do this but that He deeply wants to do it. May this sign of Jonah inspire us to pray for conversions – especially for our loved ones. Father, Your mercy is overwhelming; Your kindness is greater than I can grasp. Empower me to love You in return and to become an ambassador of Your Word and Your Mercy.” (Word Among Us, 10/14) “God alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” (Ps. 62:3) “And greater works than these shall you do…” (Jn. 14:12
