Friday Treat- To heavily expose more of my musical influence, I have to claim that dredg holds one of the highest spots on my list. Back in 2000, Tool forum fans were going nuts over the potential of this band through their first album Leitmotif. I listened, and I got sucked in. Leitmotif was a fantastic teaser to what this band had the ability to become, and when the second album El Cielo came out, the sound went to a whole new level. Upon first listen, the song Of the Room among others had turned me off due to the odd and generic lyrics. (I still see this reaction by others when I read Youtube Comments and the like). It wasnt until I dove into the concept behind the album that made it special. Research here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Cielo_(album) (Keep in mind this wiki article is a brief overview) - it actually goes much deeper than this. The use of various instruments, the song structures, the interludes, and the quality of the production is just masterful. People who got into this album will admit that it changed music in such a positive way, and that is why you will see this odd band name listed as an influence on so many bands webpages. What other band has simply described the layout of a room Of the Room and made it sound so good? This album isnt about what is right in front of you, but about what you can find when you dig deeper, and those albums to me… are the best. _Kyle
