Friday afternoon, outside the circus, local animal rights - TopicsExpress

Friday afternoon, outside the circus, local animal rights activists staged a protest near the main entrance of the Coast Coliseum as Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey honored some real life superheroes. Five veterans from the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport were presented with superhero capes and certificates of appreciation. There were veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam War. Marion Ritchie, a World War II veteran, says, “Im a veteran of WWII. I was in the Navy, called a W.A.V.E.: Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service. I remember going to the circus as a kid. My father would take us to the animal tent first.” After the presentation, the veterans got front row seats to the circus. wxxv25/news/local/story/Ringling-Bros-Circus-Honors-Veterans-at-the-Show/9eToBLPlvUKWlTUTwiY5SQ.cspx
