Friday fun fact: January 15th marked the 95th anniversary of “The Great Molasses Flood”. On that day in the North end of Boston, a large molasses storage tank burst and 2,300,000 gallons of molasses flooded the streets. A wave of molasses almost 40 feet high buckled the railroad tracks and turned neighborhood streets into a sticky mess. Approx. 150 people were injured, 21 people died and several horses were killed. Many city blocks had molasses 2-3 feet deep. Cleanup took more than two weeks and people in the North end, today, still claim they can smell molasses on a hot, humid day! Enjoy your weekend!
