Friday night in Kavanaghs - The Knights Of Leon, one of Ireland top tributs bands take to the stage in support of a Scoil Bhride initiative. youtube/watch?v=izzY55ACUQo Our local primary school Scoil Bhride has partnered up with a school in Malawi as part of a whole school project. Everyone from Junior Infants- 6th Class has gotten involved and learned about the lives of children going to school in one of the poorest countries in the world. As construction begins on a brand new building for Scoil Bhride in summer 2014 the children want to build a sister school in Malawi at the same time so that they can see the quality of their school experience change dramatically and share the excitement together through exchanges of videos, photos and blogs on the school website So far the school has raised €1700 towards building a new school and need to raise another €1000. This Friday 23 May, Knights of Leon will take to the stage in Kavanaghs, Portlaoise in a final bid to try and reach their fundraising target. Their teacher Andy Monaghan is going to Malawi to oversee the building of the school himself so he can show everyone who donated what exactly has been done. Tickets are only €12 and can be bought on Kavanagh’s website or on the door! Please come along and show your support, it’ll be a great night!
