Friday the thirteen this September saw a chain of incidents that will probably make the date memorable for more reasons than one. On the political scene, the long awaited announcement of Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 elections was made on the day which also saw a fast track court announcing the death sentence for four convicted in the Delhi gang rape and murder case. Manipur’s association with the date came in the form of an explosion that took away the lives of nine construction workers and leaving many others injured, some critically.
