Friday today. Gameday tomorrow. Arsenal hasnt exactly lived up to expectations thus far. Huge understatement, I know. Thats why a much more improved performance wont be asking for too much. But for that to happen, somethings gotto give. Perhaps... Maybe... I for one would love to see Arsene Wenger going back to the more conventional 4-2-3-1 formation. With Mesut Özil behind the front 3 in the hole. Despite popular belief, I do not believe he has lost it. Its just that I would love to see how he performs playing through the middle, with the possibility of Santi, Welbeck and Sanchez opening up space for him, and providing him with time on the ball. With Walcott 1 week away from returning, one can assume him and Sanchez will hv dibs flanking Welbeck. So Özil playing in his preferred position, so soon wouldnt be far fetched. At least thats what I think. And starting against Villa, is as good a time as any. If Wenger persist starting both Wilshere and Ramsey, this current positional nightmares that feeds into our frustrations, wont end anytime soon. So my wish would be, “Please Monsieur Wenger, bench one of those 2. Its a long season. Theres plenty of gametime to go around for both of them. We wont be worse off, theres enough talent in midfield to go around”. Its quite obvious, what he wants to happen, is not exactly working out as expected. It just result in one of the worlds best nr 10s, not playing in the position he himself would say he prefer to play. Who knows... He might actually turn up. God knows, for this team to have any chance of winning anything this season, Özil will need to step up and play to his potential. Its a long time coming. This could even lift up Artetas game. As captain one would think hell be starting most game, so having him performing at his best, is key. Regarding our back 4. Its crucial that our wingbacks resist the temptation to bomb up and join in attack. How great it may come off when they assist goals, it just put the rest of the team under unnecessary pressure if we get caught out on the counter. And then our attacking mids gets unfairly crucified for not backing up for them. It would also make life a bit easier on the CBs pairing. Some discipline is needed for sure. PS: Before the Wenger-out mob, the Ramsey-cum-Giroud-cum-Özil lynch mob and the newly Arsenal-need-a-DM mob add their negatives. This is just my opinion, bc quite frankly I chose to support Arsenal in a manner I see fit. I speak for myself. I dont dictate to anyone how they should support this wonderful team in their personal capacity. Nor do I want anyone demanding how I should support Arsenal, and what narratives, when it comes to Arsenal to use and what not to use. I am open to engaging as always. #COYG...
