Friday we had a lot of sick patients: a little baby with generalized swelling and rash that could have been serious, another baby needing an abscess lanced in her calf, an older woman with a very low blood count (Hct 12) who also had a high temp. And then there was a 58 year old man named Jean Robert who came in with a complete blockage in his intestines. It appeared he may have a mass in his lower colon, but colon cancer is very rare here. WIthout an a colostomy soonhowever, he would die. I drove him to the hospital Friday and found out the entire family are Christians. We had a regular old prayer meeting in the car on the way in. 58 seems so young to us to be looking death in the face. In Haiti the surgery could kill him or he might not get to the OR in time. So glad we have a loving father who can change the odds in our favor. Pipin, the lady with the fever and low blood count came back in on Saturday morning and she was a little worse. We decided to admit her for a transfusion till we could find the source of the problem. She heard the Gospel message on her ride in Saturday morning. She may have been a bit out of it, but she prayed the sinners prayer with me. So glad her niece is here to care for her. Thanks for remembering Pipin and Jean Robert when you pray.
