Friday’s Venues: March 14, 2014 At Jamesport Brewing Co. Road Less Traveled will be performing both nights from 7-11 pm. They play folk based music. Robert Frost implies in his poem “The Road Not Taken”, that there are often unexpected pleasures to be had in taking a lesser traveled road. This theme underlies our thoughts regarding the music they write & perform. Their music is meant to be comforting - to compliment an already relaxed & friendly atmosphere. Their performances incorporate a “folkish” blend of covers (some readily recognized - some not) and heartening originals. Mo’s bass provides a strong, yet simple pulse for our gifted and innovative guitarist Dan to weave his expertise around and through. Carleen’s vocals and flute melodies are pure and transporting. Karaoke/Open Mic at The Sandbar Ludington with Debras Dream Catcher. Sandbar Ludington is having Karaoke come join the fun! Starts at 9:30. Friday is our 1st annual St. Practice Day. Saturdays Venues: March 15, 2014 Mike McLuusua and his band of Amazing Invisible Leprechaun Misfits will be at Sportsmans restaurant and Irish Bar. He will be playing from 1-3. The Sandbar will be open at noon serving corn beef dinner and shepherds pie, best Irish costume 1st place only. And best of all ....EVENKEEL., more than a name a philosophy to our musical approach. At The Mitten Bar: A Michigan Ideology the Moxie Strings is the electrifying combination of fiddler, Diana Ladio, and electric cellist, Alison Lynn. With their feel-good melodies and foot-stomping, rock-influenced rhythms, these young women have put a fresh, enticing spin on Celtic and Americana music. Though rooted in tradition, The Moxie Strings offer listeners the unique opportunity to experience some of the world’s best-known instruments and oldest tunes through a young, progressive lens. Diana and Alison often join forces with dynamic drummer and world percussionist, Fritz McGirr, who lends his spirited expertise of traditional music’s percussion component, and a creative rhythmic energy to the show. The ensemble calls on Bluegrass, Celtic, Canadian, Rock, Jazz and Old Time influences to create their unique, American hybrid that exemplifies the United State’s identity as a melting pot of traditions. But the music will always be from the soul. Honest. Truthful. Learned. Earned. Preached. Come join us at any local dive... we love to play. We love to share music. Our passion. You may hear some Merle, Cash, Jamey Johnson, Hank 1, 2, and 3, B.B., Albert, Freddie King....maybe Ray Wylie Hubbard or Tony Joe White. Kentucky Headhunters and ZZ Top are always present. Maybe a Brooks and Dunn or Garth song will sneak in. Youll know the songs but you will never hear them played our way....unless you come share a drink and some time with us. We look forward to it.
