Friend, mentor and amazing educator Leroy Pop Miller died yesterday. He lived a life of motivation for many East Mecklenburg High School Eagles in the 70s and 80s. He was instrumental in my education and the education of my sisters. He inspired me to win the Morehead Scholarship and after a basketball game he once told me You could be a doctor!. And I did. Thanks, Pop, for your strength and vision and friendship and direction. You were one of a kind.
