Friendly Monday 11th August Rosehill United 4 Greater Glasgow AFC 0 Anthony McCulloch, Andrew Caulfield, Gerry Spencer, Scott Burns, Chris Bruff, Darren Doyle, Raymond Pettigrew, Andy MacRitchie, Alan Docherty, Tam Whittaker and Darren Cleary Subs George Smith, Owen ODonnell and Scott Sneddon Goals ; Raymond Pettigrew (20) Alan Docherty (66) George Smith (75) Andy MacRitchie (86) Managements Man of the Match ; Alan Docherty Manager Alan MacDonald and Assistant Martyn Emslie made 4 enforced changed to the team that started on Saturday, out went Neill McGinley, Kevin Docherty, Chris Campbell and Gareth Greer who were either nursing injuries or unavailable, In their place came Andy MacRitchie, Chris Bruff, Darren Cleary and Gerry Spencer. Rosehill started the first half pretty well and first threatened when Caulfield released Docherty but the winger cut inside and blasted over the bar. The Hill took the lead when again Caulfield fed Docherty who beat his man a delivered a wonderful ball for Raymond Pettigrew to head home. United had another couple of chances to go in front but Pettigrew missed his usual sitter after some good work by MacRitchie and Cleary had his diving header saved from Whittakers deep cross. Greater Glasgow did have a flurry of corners and some attempted through balls which keeper. McCulloch felt with very well. Half time - Rosehill United 1 Greater Glasgow 0 MacDonald introduced ODonnell, Smith and Sneddon to the second half action. The first 20 minutes of the 2nd half were pretty in eventful untill ODonnell chased down a list cause winning the ball for Sneddon to come in and deliver a great cross for Docherty to tap home from close Range. MacDonald freshened things up by re introducing Cleary, Whittaker and MacRitchie. On 75 minutes The Hill got their 3d goal of the nite when ODonnell delivered a good ball to MacRitchie who took a touch and layed the ball off for George Smith to smash home from 8 yards out. The fourth goals was the goal of the game and it came 4 minutes before the end, the ball was picked up at the back and almost every player had a touch before Smith delivers another good cross which MacRitchie peeled off his man and fired home from close range. Minutes before time another good passing move saw Spencer slip the ball to Burns 40 yards from goal, the Beckenbauer like defender ☺️ took a touch and smashed a rocket shot at goal (Much better than Doyles Shot v Bonnyholm 😉) but just when the ball looked like heading home the keeper pulled of save that can only be described as a Gordon Banks wonder save to heartbreakingly deny the centre half his first goal in around 5 years 😡 Full Time score Rosehill United 4 Greater Glasgow 0 All in all another good workout for the hill on the eve of the first game of the season. Getting George Smith and Scott Sneddon back into the squad and involved again was also a bonus especially with Geo grabbing a goal and Snid helping himself to an assist. Onwards to Saturday now and everyone needs to show up on time and be up for the match as we will need to be putting in the same performance if not than the ones we have produced the last 5 matches.
