Friends - We met with doctors yesterday and received an update on my illness. Unfortunately the news was not positive. I have a Sarcoma which has spread to multiple locations. The biopsy results have been sent to Emory in Atlanta for further analysis and identification of the specific cell type. This type of cancer is usually hereditary or as a result of exposure to certain chemicals and only represents 1% of malignant tumors. Survival rates have not changed much over the last 20 years. Our doctors have recommended a consultation with radiation and chemo resources to determine if those options might assist with some shrinkage of the primary site to help with pain management. That along with identification of the specific cell type will define what options exist. While this was not the news we hoped for it is what it is and well deal with the challenges ahead. I cant thank all of you enough for our kind words, support, cards, etc over the past several weeks. Its uplifting to know so may of you are praying and thinking of our family. Well continue to provide updates as we learn more about next steps. I ask that you continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Your support is greatly appreciated and humbling.
