Friends- if you are on the fence regarding Measure P- here are a few stats for you: In 2013, SB County oil and gas onshore operations generated $291.4M in economic output with 1,953 jobs (most of them temporary drilling jobs). Compare this with Agriculture in 2013 which generated $1.9B (yes thats Billion) with 21,544 jobs. Which economic sector do you think has more of an impact on the wealth of our county? And moreover, which one will create long lasting jobs, local jobs, and feed people? Not oil and gas thats for sure. Unfortunately, oil and gas development is in direct opposition to agriculture, with land and water at a premium in our beautiful county. I am sick and tired of the jobs argument for protecting the profits of a few companies that take our money out of our community while polluting our groundwater and using it to crack the earth under our feet.
