Friends... As many of you have seen, I have been competing in a singing competition for the past 10 weeks… Of 220 competitors that auditioned, I’ve made it in the top 24 for “NeXt Factor- Project Idol” at the Grey Eagle Casino. This competition is for experience/exposure & prizes, but first and foremost is to support the Alberta Cancer Foundation- Patient Financial Assistance Program. The Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Patient Financial Assistance Program is one of the ways the Alberta Cancer Foundation helps ease the cancer journey for all cancer patients and families following a diagnosis. Patients can apply for financial support for: Mortgage payments or rent, Travel, accommodation and meal costs for those who live elsewhere in the province, Costs for anti-nausea and pain-killing medications not covered under drug plans, Interim support for critical short-term needs, such as groceries, and more!! Each contestant has been asked to raise $100 for this amazing cause, but my goal is to raise $500-$1000 in just one short week (Once an over achiever, always one haha). Please also note, how much we raise has no effect on how we do in the competition, I’m just passionate about the cause. I don’t think there is a single person that hasn’t been affected by cancer in their life. In only a few short years, I have lost 5 dear friends & mentors to this horrible disease, watched my own father struggle with it (though thankfully now is in remission), and just these past 2 weeks have found out that two additional friends, two very young friends have been diagnosed with cancer. If you are able to spare some change, bills, etc to this incredible cause, please let me know. I am supposed to submit my raised funds/sponsor sheet this upcoming Monday August 18th, so need to organize this rather quickly.. I am willing to pick up cheques/cash/etc if you’re unable to come to me, as well as etransfers (That I’ll put in your name). Also, If you wish to donate more than $15, I can get a tax receipt mailed to you from the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Anything & everything helps, thank you for “listening”.
