Friends & Family, I wrote a song about 12 days ago called “The Horses” if you have not heard it yet please click on the link at the end of this message. I recorded this last Sunday at a friend’s house and worked quickly to put a little video together so I could get it out right away because the horses need a voice. In just one week it has received over 9,000 views on facebook and YouTube, way beyond my expectations. I wrote this song because I have been involved for the last month with Justice for League Line Road horses, Conroe, Texas. A horse community action group, I guess is what you would call us and we have been fighting to save the lives of hundreds of horses that have been starving to death on less than 40 acres of land, while local authorities and media have looked the other way. I worked for a short time at this farm that I can only describe as a Pony Mill and saw with my own eyes all the neglect and abuse. It was and is heartbreaking and a life changing experience for me. So I made a commitment to God while there in the barn, that I would devote my life and talents to work with and protect horses. I was contacted about 30 minutes after the original video launched by a man asking me to use it in a television commercial for his nonprofit organization. However, after some soul searching, I do not feel that our paths exactly line up at the moment. So what I have decided to do with the song is add it with 9 to 11 of the very best songs from my catalog and put out a full length CD. My intentions are to then split the proceeds 50/50 with horse charities that believe that all horses have value. You see, to me, that little girl that rides her rescued wild mustang or Welsh pony at a play day see a professional. I reached out to 12 time Grammy nominated producer Doug Driesel who has 4 #1 records under his belt and has produced records for Moe Bandy, Gary P. Nunn, Kevin Fowler and Jody Booth to name a few. Doug has agreed to take on the project and is availing himself to start working immediately. He has also given me a great deal to get this project started, I only need to raise $7,500 for phase 1, to record 12 songs with a full band, to have them mixed, mastered and ready to press. This number will also cover all travel and living expenses to Cherokee Village, Arkansas during the recording process. Additional funding will be needed later to press and promote the recording. However, we will be able to release it digitally right away, with worldwide distribution. For the moment my desires are to get in the studio as soon as possible in order to accomplish the aforementioned recording. I am seeking donors and or investors to fund this worthwhile project. We can fund this project in a couple of different ways; 1) with 300 $25 donors and for a donation of $25 you will receive via email a digital copy of the album and your name mentioned in the liner notes, 2) we can also finance this project with 150 $50 donors, $50 donors will receive via email a digital copy of album as well as a signed/autographed Compact Disc mailed to you inside the continental United States as soon as they become available, and your name mentioned in the liner notes. I will accept donations of any size, every little contribution helps. It would be ideal to have 1 investor to step up and fund the entire project and I am offering a 200% return on contract. I have to put a minimum of $1000 to be a part of the investment pool to keep administration and accounting simple and straightforward.
