Friends, Fans, Likers and Followers of Art on the Colorado. December is another milestone in the development of our contemporary art gallery. We are introducing the work of S. Gretchen Norwalk, an artist who will be represented on an ongoing basis. I am a collector and fan of Gretchen’s art and have been for twenty years. I am so proud that she has agreed to have Art on the Colorado represent her art in Texas. A display of her art will be introduced this Friday on First Friday Art Walk, December 5th. She has a unique style which she incorporates into her “Wild, Woolly, and Wet Wildlife” animals of Rocky Mountains and Western states as well as her vivid abstracts. A summary of Art on the Colorado’s progress Art on the Colorado opened on April 4, 2014’s First Friday Art Walk. This week will mark the gallery’s seven month anniversary. Since opening, a series of planned enhancements have been successfully implemented. First, David Baker’s working studio was completed so that work on site was facilitated. Next, the gallery initiated its Featured Artist Series with friend and accomplished Austin artist, Sally Frazer. Following Sally, a succession of monthly First Friday Featured Artists have added value to visitors’ experience. In September, we added live music to that enjoyment and expanded our offering of hors d’ouvres and wine. The ambiance was enhanced and visitors noticeably are enjoying a relaxing and rewarding time viewing art at the gallery on these special nights. In October, we introduced the work of Mark Hyde, the first artist to sign on to be represented by Art on the Colorado. Our plan is to add two additional painters and two more sculptors to make a visit to Art on the Colorado even more interesting and rewarding. In November, we took another major step toward our goal by adding painter Sandra Kay Bulley’s dramatic and brightly colored abstracts to the collection of art offered to collectors by the gallery. Now, with the addition of the work of S. Gretchen Norwalk, Art on the Colorado has taken another important step in continuing to bring to gallery visitors a collection of artists and art that not only are creative, beautiful and highly regarded, but affordable as well. By spring 2015 we plan to have added two additional sculptors: one who creates beautiful works of glass blown art and another who casts creative aluminum sculptures. Not that you are counting, but yes…there will be three painters and three very differently talented sculptors consistently represented by Art on the Colorado. What’s next? In early 2015 Art on the Colorado will establish a Special Exhibit venue to showcase excellent art of many genres. Although our gallery will remain dedicated to contemporary art, the Special Exhibits Room will rotate every four to six weeks highly interesting and superb works of many different types of art. Our hope is to present a special art experience for all who visit our gallery. - - Gallery Owner and Artist, David Baker
