Friends, I am searching for band mates. The idea is to get together a predominantly acoustic ensemble to perform fun, high energy, east/west blended, call/response style jams, and to convey the cosmic cycles of creation, preservation and dissolution. Lets chant praises to the Devis and Devas. Ive been playing and arranging bhajans, ashtakams, aartis, stotrams, classical carnatic compositions etc. on 6 and 12 string guitar, as well writing original music to slokas and mantras. Looking for vocalists, percussion/tabla, violin, harmonium, bass, flute/bansuri, pretty much any of the traditional instruments of India, or whatever layers in well. APOLOGIES for the poor quality recordings. Im using a 2 track pocket recorder while running an annoying, generic beat from a keyboard. And.. Im obviously not trying to be a singer, to me, it feels like a female vocalist for lead/call and 2-3 female vocalists for choral/response. What do you think? Not much here in the way of intros, breaks, jams, outros or ends, these are just single-tempo snippets of the possibilities for a songs main theme. In most cases I left a space so that after I sing a line, it can be repeated. These samples are basic and rough, but I think you can get an idea of what the vision is.
