Friends, I havent been too serious today because Ive been so sick recently and there has been no room for joy in there. But I do want to make one serious note about today. Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to recognize the leaders in the trans* community and all trans* people everywhere who work to make my existence less of a death hazard and more of an average thing. Its about people like me standing up and saying Im transgender, but Im also just like you and being active parts of our communities...the only way we can work to reverse the sad, growing trend of trans* people being targeted for violence and discrimination is to recognize that transgender people are not evil, bad, disgusting, or abominations. They are men and women (and other people who are neither men nor women) who deserve the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. My name is Nixon VanJustice and Im a transman.
