Friends I love Chinese people. I am going to celebrate CHRIST-mas - TopicsExpress

Friends I love Chinese people. I am going to celebrate CHRIST-mas this year by honoring my Chinese brothers and sisters (who live in oppression under a totalitarian regime where they are slaves with little human rights) AND my American brothers and sisters (who are losing their jobs to offshore manufacturing in China and being sold down the river by the WTO and ‘our’ own government who caters to the multinational corporations) this CHRIST mas by NOT BUYING products made in China. I invite all of you to celebrate this Christmas by refusing to buy anything from Walmart which is made in China (91% of what is sold in Walmart is imported from China). We are so much more than consumers of cheaply made, toxic products. Is anyone out there brave enough to stand up for American manufacturing, stand against multinational corporations like Yahoo, Google, GE, and a host of others who care only for their bottom line? Can we ever achieve a new state of mind where we STOP defining our ‘success’ by how much junk clutters our home? Can we stop watching commercials long enough to TEACH our kids the TRUE meaning of CHRIST-mas which has nothing to do with buying things? Can we empower them by not going into MORE debt by buying the latest techie toy on credit? Isn’t overspending financially lying to ourselves? What is Christ- like about that? Are we strong enough to give our children a REAL gift this Christmas by being honest with them about what’s important and what we have to be grateful for already? A family, a home, a bed to sleep in, clean water, food, education, libraries, democracy and freedom to take control of our lives and make wise choices. These are gifts we already have and are not using to make our country, our world, more ‘Christ-like and loving. We can choose to define what we stand for daily. Our thoughts, our actions, what we choose to buy and NOT to buy. We have a lot of power. Please join me in celebrating a peaceful and joyful Christmas this year by making Christmas gifts with local/ American made materials or buy gifts made by local/ American companies.
