Friends, I posted this a month ago, but its now January and we have kicked this off and it is already AMAZING! So heres one last chance to take part. _____________ Im inspired by something Kathy Valentine Official (former bass player for the Go-Gos) posted about a weekly challenge shes involved in. Each week, someone posts a phrase and all the members of her group have to write a song using the phrase. The tracks are rough, but some go on to become fully produced songs. That got me thinking about my own frustration at not writing. I found a million excuses and distractions, and weeks go by without anything new. Heres the idea. By Thursday of each week, we decide on a simple phrase or expression. Then we have a full week to create whatever art we choose that incorporates that phrase somehow. Write a short story or poem. Create a melody or full song. Paint a picture. Take a photograph. Use whatever medium you choose. Just create. Do your art. We can share what we create each week with our group, on our personal blogs, or privately... whatever individuals want to do and feel comfortable with.
