Friends, I used to question Nehemiah 8:10 that says The joy of the Lord is your strength. As a creative person and a writer I thought it would make more sense to say The strength of the Lord is your joy. But as I have gotten older and hopefully wiser and have lived life with its ups, downs and every emotion from love, loss, sorrow, laughter, scars, pain and tears I realize that the ability to find joy in life really is a tremendous strength. The people who can laugh are the strong ones. The people who can find peace and throw their heads back and delight in the Lord and just laugh with true joy in each moment are going to live a lot longer than those of us who are stressed, or are letting others dictate to you on how you feel... and of course those of us who take ourselves too seriously will not comprehend the joy of the Lord in the worst of times. Why does the Bible talk so much about children and their joy? I believe its because children really are good at spontaneous joy. They know it intuitively. That is why they give it soooo freely in each moment. They dont put it on hold - they cant help but show their joy with abandon. We must choose today to become like a little child and let the Joy of the Lord and our Salvation be rekindled in us today... If we do this we will see our dry bones come alive once again and see us all look and feel younger. People and life can run you over and steal, kill and destroy your joy and health... but it is a choice if you let them. Say this with me today, The JOY of the Lord is MY STRENGTH!! Receive it & walk in it today... laugh out loud and live life loving God and being Joyful for what He has done for you... Not what life has thrown up on you with but that He so loved you that He gave Himself so you can now have Life and Life more abundantly... Being sad and miserable is not life more abundantly. Shake off the old and dead and come alive to Jesus and His Love & Joy today. Love to you all!!!
