Friends, Im sorry to repost this, but Im hoping that you might spend Labor Day getting your family in on the event on Wednesday: CONTACT OUR CONGRESSMEN The aim: Ukraine needs military equipment to fight the well-armed Russian army that invaded Ukraine. Thus far, the United States has given things like bullet-proof vests. This helps, but Russian invasion can’t be fended off with bullet-proof vests. The Ukrainian army needs drones, thermal imagers for night vision, modern aiming devices, anti-tank systems, modern snipers’ rifles, GPS flight navigators for pilots, and so on. Remember, Ukraine is not only defending itself, but also peace in Europe, and the alliance between the US and its biggest friend, Europe, as well as international law. The plan for WEDNESDAY: Let us pressure our senators and representatives to support measures to provide military equipment to Ukraine. On WEDNESDAY, Sept 3, we will all e-mail LETTERS to our congressmen about this. Get your husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, parents, children, girlfriends, and boyfriends to do the same!!! On Wednesday, let’s also TELEPHONE our congressmen about this, because phone calls make a stronger impression. If we are lucky, we can speak with them. Most likely they will be in a meeting, and we can leave messages with their aides. As a reminder, our senators are Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey. Senator Markey in particular sits on several foreign relations committees. He has already proposed a bill to reduce Ukrainian dependence on Russian energy (markey.senate.gov/news/press-releases/markey-introduces-legislation-to-boost-ukrainian-energy-independence-lessening-putins-power), and he has called on France to stop the delivery of the Mistral ships to Russia (markey.senate.gov/news/press-releases/senators-call-on-french-president-to-cancel-warship-delivery-to-russia). Who your representative is depends on where you live. You can find out here by putting in your zip code: house.gov/representatives/find/ Contacting congressmen is very easy. Feel free to modify them, and feel free to write your own. One caveat: take care to use correct English, because then you are taken more seriously. If you will use the sample letters, read them carefully and make changes as needed: for example, when writing to Elizabeth Warren or to your representative, delete the part about the “Ukrainian Independence from Russian Energy bill”, because they weren’t involved.
