Friends My 1st Activity on 28 August 2013 , I, will be joining: "The Hague Approach" Launch On 28 August, during the Centenary Celebrations of the Peace Palace, The Hague Institute will present The Hague Approach to H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations. The Hague Approach comprises six guiding principles for achieving sustainable peace: conflict prevention; a network response; strategic communication; private sector engagement; fostering a rule of law culture; and the responsibility to learn. These principles will be discussed during a conference on the afternoon of the 28th of August alongside a comparative analysis of rule of law building activities in Afghanistan and Iraq and the findings of field research on rule of law work in post-Qaddafi Libya. The Libya study was conducted by a partner institution, the Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law, Governance, and Development (Leiden University), in collaboration with the Benghazi Research and Consulting Centre (University of Benghazi). The city of the Hague, with its exceptional constellation of international courts and tribunals, has long been associated with international peace and justice.
