Friends, Please help us remember Capt. Mal Walker today. Capt. Walker was the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being Ive ever known in my life. We were honored to have spent countless reunions back to Normandy with him, and was very involved in helping shape The Greatest Generations Foundation. Captain Malvin Walker – United States Army 29th Infantry Division, 115th Regiment Omaha Beach June 06, 1944. Malvin Walker was born and reared in Indiana. He is a cellist, and a teacher of instrumental music. During World War II, Capt. Walker served as a unit commander and intelligence officer with the 29th Infantry Division. After storming Omaha beach on the second wave, he continued fighting through the hedgerows for another month when he was wounded in outside St Lo. Capt. Walker returned to combat after spending 3 months in the 61st general hospital, and fought through France and Germany until reaching the Elbe River with the 29th Infantry Division. After VE Day, Capt. Walker was appointed the military major of Bremen, Germany under the Marshall plan. That was when his lifelong interest in the German Third Reich originated. Capt. Walker authored the Chronological Encyclopedia of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich, which was later endorsed by Albert Spears, Minister of Armaments and War Production for the Third Reich. There were many highlights throughout his life; one was back in July 2005 when Capt. made a special visit to Buckingham Palace as guests of the Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ending of World War II. Capt. Walker passed away a year ago today, at the age of 93. It’s been a deep loss for our Foundation, and for our country. He made the return to Normandy this passed June, as his wish was to have his ashes scattered throughout Normandy. His wish was granted. On behalf of a grateful nation, we salute you Capt. Walker for your dedication and service to our nation. Your life and legacy will be remembered for generations to come. RIP Captain Malvin Walker 1920 to 2013.
