Friends, Recognizing month of November as Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month, our Great Family City of Manteca issued proclamation recognizing contribution of Sikh Americans. Mayor Willie Weatherford, council members Steve De-Brum, John Harris, Vince Hernandez and Debby Moorhead presented proclamation and honored Sikh representatives at city hall in the presence of City of Manteca Manager - Karen McLaughlin, police chief - Nick Obligacion, fire chief - Kirk Waters, city clerk - Joann Tilton, park and recreation director Kevin Fant and others. Kudos and thanks to City of Manteca leadership, officials and all community members who witnessed this ceremony. Special thanks to our young students who are continuing their effort in reaching out and organizing various awareness projects throughout this month. As part of Sikh Awareness and Appreciation, 1. Kids did amazing community service by holding free coffee and snacks during early morning hours this Veterans Day for flag volunteers and interacted with them. 2. Kids addressed Manteca Unified School District board members, trustees and district superintendent. We are trying to do few more community service events during this month about Sikh Awareness. If any body have ideas or interested in participating, especially kids, please inbox. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
