Friends, Some guy just called me, apparently he visited our Factory (where am in charge) in my absence and now called. He says he is from Industrial Health and he quoted an Occupational Safety and Health act 2007 where I as the employer am required by law to know the health status of all the employees (both permanent and casual) at any given time to ascertain that the working conditions in which they are exposed will not harm them. Is that true? Is this just a hoax trying to make some money? I have never seen a work environment where employees are subjected to mandatory health tests unless you work in a highly sensitive job (like a Surgeon or Pilot or security etc) and seriously in Kenya? Since when did the gvt start giving a damn about the health of employees? Am not saying am scared for my guys, I think we offer some of the best working conditions and remuneration in a construction industry compared to the holed up industries in Kawangware etc....is this just a case of where they can milk money?
