Friends. Some leave our shores and never return, some arrive and never go, but the heart strings are always there, strong, unflinching in the storms of time. Tonight we had a farewell supper for two of our most favourite friends at another two of our favourite friends home, and as much as time slips by we realise that with friends - nothing really changes over this void of time, just the stories have more colours, the hugs are closer and the love more sincere and comforitng, the sharing is easier and there are no awkward silences. We are going to miss Ken & Paula like never before. Stoic as we are, we are just girls waiting for good reason to cry, as Quitin Crisp wrote: I just want to be infinitely present. and in the reflection of the pond of life I have been infinitely present, seen them blossom, sprout and bloom and are now ready to head to new shores and start a new life there. Sad and happy all in one - who would have guessed. With friends - make sure you hearts are close and your tents apart.
