Friends, Thanksgiving Day traditions abound throughout the United States: some more joyous than others. I’m not sure why, but for years the Frank family Thanksgiving morning rituals included cleaning the gutters. How I wish that I could have found some excuse to “opt out” of that annual pre-feast activity. This Thanksgiving, we have an opportunity to start a new tradition and I have an excuse to free me of a morning in the gutters: 10:30am Thanksgiving worship at New Life. No doubt many prayers will be said in kitchens and homes, and around tables that day: cooks while preparing their meals, anxious hosts awaiting the safe arrival of guests, and hungry diners holding forks and knives ready to spring into action. However, something special occurs each time we gather at New Life to worship and deepen our relationship with God and each other. I encourage you to make time to experience the mystery of faith as it is revealed to us on Thanksgiving Day. If you cannot join us, rest assured you will be in our prayers. --- Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
