Friends, This is from the Washington Post (the paper that broke Watergate Scandal in the 70s). Whether Obama, or Bush or any other President thinks because THEY feel a law is unconstitutional, that they can override it? When laws, whether we like them or not, only apply when people in power and control want them to, we no longer have a constitutional democracy. Why do you and I have to follow laws we dont like? This is the final step to Tyranny my friends. If this is allowed to stand by congress, I believe History will mark this as the day and the act that makes congress irrelevant and the true beginning of the end for our great democracy!!!!!!!!!! Obamas administration acknowledged that the law was not followed. When he signed the law last year, Obama issued a signing statement contending that the notification requirement was an unconstitutional infringement on his powers as commander in chief and that he therefore could override it. A senior administration official, agreeing to speak on the condition of anonymity to explain the timing of the congressional notification, acknowledged that the law was not followed.
