Friends, Unfortunately, we just got word from Rob Zerban who has refused to debate me on August 6th despite having a third party host organization, great high school auditorium location, media coverage from local press and TV, and two fantastic moderating options from NPR. In 2012, when Paul Ryan refused to debate Rob Zerban, the Zerban campaign collected 50,000 signatures to petition for a debate. The Racine Journal Times, Kenosha News, as well as the Capital times editorial board all called for a debate. Rob Zerban himself said in the Gazette extra The voters in this district deserve a debate Now - Rob is running away from a debate that would effectively decide who is a better candidate to beat Paul Ryan in 2014. Politics in Washington have the look and feel of a rigged game. That is why I stand for campaign finance reform. Debates are also an effective solution. Debates provide a forum and help inform voters allowing them to make educated decisions. If you believe that an open and honest debate between candidates is vital to a free democracy- please consider sending rob@robzerban, an email, asking him to debate me on August 6th at 7pm.
