Friends and family, Our brother Shayne OB has recently received news that his mother has terminal cancer. Out of everything that has ever been posted on this page, please take the time to read this. We appreciate your love and support in this difficult time. His family is part of our family too. So I havent really talked about this openly to anyone at Geneseo or to my friends back at home because its been incredibly hard but here it goes. Seven years ago my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and although after intensive treatment her cancer went into remission, it took a serious toll on her body as well as the relations within our family. About a week and a half ago she was admitted into the hospital for side pains. What the doctors found was that the cancer had come back and metastasized through her lymph nodes into the rest of her body. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 widespread bone cancer ranging from her femur all the way to her skull. My mom is 55, and there is no cure to the type of bone cancer she has. With the right treatment, though, she can maintain a decent quality of life for a few more years. My family is struggling financially right now.
