Friends and family in India: I assume you have heard about the #HeForShe campaign by now. Its an inclusive, global, coordinated solidarity movement for gender equality, and its currently ~10,000 volunteers short of reaching its first target (100k men signed up). What worries me is that over 50,000 of those sign-ups are from USA, UK, Canada & Australia. We have more internet users than any of those countries - than any country but China - and yet, Australia (with one-tenth our number of internet users) has twice as many volunteers already. Gender Equality is not a Western concept. Its not a foreign problem. And its not an imposition. I didnt learn about it from Emma Watson - I was nodding along when she spoke about it, because I learned about it from you, my family and friends at home. And then, what is 10,000 men? Flipkart sold *60,000* of those Redmi phones in 5.2 *seconds* - if even half those buyers were male, we could take HeForShe across this goal in less time than it took to read this sentence. If youd like to help with that, sign up here: heforshe.org/ Dont stop there, though - get other people on board. Yall send me a dozen invitations to play candy crush every day. You can definitely push this out as well.
