Friends and teachers of Kenya you will remember that Knut called for press conference today and we addressed the following issues; i) Through a legal notice 14610 of 15th November 2013, the illegal agency fee as was to be levied to any non kuppet member through legal notice 11987 of 23rd August 2013 has been lifted. No teacher will be inflicted on this illegal and unconstitutional flimsy charge. ii) That out of 4695 Knut members some of whom are our officials who had been transferred to Kuppet 3900 have been reversed to their union of choice. We demanded that CID probes the fraudulent activities at Teachers Service Commission Kenya and bring perpetrators of this shameful act to books. We shall not rest until we get to bottom of the matter. iii) That markers and other officials who were managing national examinations are hereby requested to report to marking centers because Knut has been on consultation with KNEC over the issue since July and so far the following grounds were ceded by council; - Waiver of taxation on any dues below Ksh. 133,000/= - Rates have been upwardly increased for marking, invigilation and supervision as well as security officers. - Council has committed itself to provide decent accommodation as well as brand new bedding to all markers. iv) That halted promotions is an issue at advance stages of consultations and if no tangible positive response is achieved within the timelines we gave the commission then the teachers will be advised on next course of action.
