Friends are asking about the Judicial Candidates so here goes - L.A. County Seats - First and foremost, Jacqueline Lewis! I had the pleasure of working in her court room for several years and found her to be a truly engaged bench officer - eager to teach and eager to learn. Conservative yes, but predictably so, and always willing to be persuaded by law and evidence. More importantly, she is protective of due process rights and dedicated to justice. So Jacqueline Lewis, please remember that name at the ballot. Jacqueline Lewis. Also, I support Andrew Stein. In the State races (just the ones with more than one person running) I support Jeffrey Johnson, Audrey B. Collins, and Laurence Rubin. And please please please vote yes on 47. Sentences have gotten ridiculous. This proposition moves in the right direction - diverting dollars to helping the non-violent with mental health and substance abuse problems, and away from making them felons for life and incarcerating them. We Californians have built 22 prisons but only one university in the last 30 years. VOTE TUESDAY! Wherever you are, VOTE!!!! Say thank you for the privilege of being a citizen, VOTE! (And did I mention it would be a great idea to vote for Jacqueline Lewis?)
