Friends (especially in NY, NJ and IL): Many of you like my statuses and send me messages of encouragement, so I know that you care about what Im doing and understand why Im doing it. I hope that many of you also understand why the proposed quarantines will hurt me, my colleagues, the people of West Africa, and all of us. Locking up returning health workers - people who should be lauded as heroes - is probably the best way to ensure that no American health workers go to fight this epidemic. Its an investment in the spread of this disease. It wont make you safer - it will put all of us in grave danger. Now is your chance to help. Call your Governors. Call your representatives. Call your senators. Email them. Fax them. Get your friends to contact them. Organize dinner parties to discuss this. Whatever you want to do - do it. We need your voices. Elections are around the corner, so politicians are listening. Let them hear you! I dont want your money, I just want your voice. Take a few minutes out of your day to help save some lives. Thanks.
