Friends in Egypt, I need your help I am organising a capacity building workshop for professional and citizen journalists from outside Cairo with Mada Masr, so we are looking for people who want to write about environmental and resource issues in Egypt. We all know the environmental issue hotspots are outside the political hotspots and therefore suffer from a lack of media coverage. We are building a network of journos who need local and national platforms, writing and multimedia outlets, and contacts across the country. We have exciting speakers and trainers, like Leila Iskander talking on waste, Mona Iraqi - منى عراقي on clandestine videography and investigative reporting and interviewing, Ahmed Hamed on photographic techniques and ways to embellish written stories, cartooning, Sarah Rifaat facilitating, and talks & discussions on water (pollution and scarcity), waste, energy, food and agriculture, and climate change & adaptation from great people in the field. The winning piece they write 1 month after the workshop will then be turned into a documentary and screened around Egypt. (The workshop will be entirely in Arabic so proficiency in English is not necessary) Now we only have 10 places, and we are headhunting people, does anyone have any suggestions for people who fit the bill, especially from the South, from Sinai, or from the North coast?
