Friends, it is clear that the shooting of NYPD officers will be used against the movement. (In the video below the president of the police union in NYC blames the protestors and the mayor), but this is nothing new and cannot itself split the movement. What we do, how we respond, can however do real damage. We need to think like a movement and recognize that there are different constituencies and organizations working together now and the goal of the opposition will be to drive a wedge between us. What we publicly state or post on social media can help them do this. It is tempting for us to turn our attention to their accusations, and express outrage (because what theyre saying is completely bullshit), but I believe our attention should be 100% focused on sustaining solidarity, mutual aid, and momentum.
