Friends, let me talk to you for a minute. Everyone who knows me knows that I think HBOs The Newsroom is not only the most important televised program, but also the best. And one VERY big part of that is the political side of it. But I want to step away from that for a moment and talk about the other part: the drama. It is just as much a show about the characters as it is a political statement of truth. The show is written with such wit, genius and care, which, when paired with the inspiring cast giving such lifelike performances, well it just really gives me all the feels. With the finale right on our heels, last nights episode ended with what very well may be its most powerful scene. It says so many things with but a few words. Not only of the program and its characters, but also speaks of relative truths to us as people. I didnt cry, but I certainly didnt pretend I wasnt touched. In a show full of such beautiful discord, it was liberating to see the chaos taken away and the love intensified. Well done, Sorkin. Well done, indeed.
