Friends, many of you have heard about a disgusting mailer sent out by the Cardon campaign regarding me and my familys integrity. Below is a statement that Ive just released regarding the mailer. The piece is so deceitful that Matt Salmon felt the need to voice support to my campaign. JUSTIN PIERCE STATEMENT ON DEFAMATORY MAIL PIECE FROM WIL CARDON A deceitful mail piece from Wil Cardon’s campaign was received by many today. Representative Justin Pierce commented, Unfortunately, Wil Cardon has stooped to a new low in attacking political opponents. The truth is, Cardon’s recent e-mails and the attack mail piece against me is defamatory and subjects him to further legal action. He has admitted on the record (Arizona Republic Editorial Board Interview) that he is merely speculating that APS has any involvement in my race. Wil Cardons accusations are 100% false.” Pierce went on to say, “Just last week Mr. Cardon admitted in an open forum that he doesnt believe I have anything to do with an independent group that has painted him in an unfavorable light. It is disappointing that Cardon has once again resorted to negative campaign attack tactics. Even worse than just negative campaign tactics is the fact that he is campaigning on a platform that completely contradicts the truth and goes against what he said last week.” Pierce concluded by saying, “My campaign over these final two weeks will continue to be about the positive message of what I bring in background, education, and experience to the Arizona Secretary of States office. I have confidence that the voters will see Mr. Cardons campaigning for what it is, and give it no credence. When Congressman Matt Salmon read the Cardon campaign mailer he issued the following statement, With the primary election just around the corner, it is not surprising to see candidates and their campaigns getting downright ugly. Recently, a campaign mail piece was sent to Arizona voters that calls into question the integrity of Justin Pierce and his family. Having known Justin and the Pierce family for many, many years, I would like to set the record straight – the integrity of Justin and his family is above reproach. The Pierce’s are one of the most honest and trustworthy families I know, and have given a tremendous amount of public service to the people of Arizona for many years. I continue to believe that Justin Pierce is the best candidate for the job of Secretary of State, and ask that you join me in supporting his campaign too.
