Friends, meet Serena. Serena came to ACS on Tuesday after she was rescued from a Puppymill where she had been bred and bred until they no longer had use for her. The people who rescued Serena cut off her matts, fed her, bathed her, and gave her some much needed loving before she came to our shelter. Poor baby is estimated to be around 6 years old but the years and years of endless breeding she has endured have taken a toll on her body, especially her teeth. When I touched one of the remaining teeth she had, it was so rotten that it moved. Its just heartbreaking. This little girl doesnt seem to hold any grudges for her awful past though. She is just as sweet and nice as can be! We are so happy to give her the chance at a new life where she can be loved and cared for. The vet wants to work on cleaning and removing her teeth asap, so she will be having that surgery (along with her spay surgery) on Thursday. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers that the surgery goes well and she recovers quickly! She is already on an antibiotic for her gums and her skin. We think she may not have many (if any) teeth left but we know she will have a whole lot of love to give to a special new adopter!! Serena will not be available for adoption or visitation for at least two weeks as she will be recovering from surgery and because she needs to be vaccinated to be fully protected. If you would like to make a donation to help with Serenas care, please visit animalcaresociety.org or send a check to ACS at 11207 Westport Rd, Lou, Ky 40245. Be sure to specify for Serena. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and please share Serenas story!
