Friends of 8th graders, I have already voiced my disappointment regarding the districts decision to not have an 8th grade award ceremony like they have in past years, but today Jack came home and said that tomorrows activities were explained to them as a way to excite the 6th and 7th graders and increase graduation rates! He also said that they announced all the names of students who did not meet the requirements to pass 8th grade. I was told last week by the principal that parents would be invited to the awards ceremony, but the connect ed call just says we can come see them walk over to the HS hours after the awards!!! I am feeling rather appalled by this, and that many children are being disrespected and slighted, whether they have met the requirements or not....but perhaps I am overreacting. Any thoughts?
