** Friends of Chrystal** will be participating with the Michigan Attorney General Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative, See Below: I have included Chrystal’s photos from early childhood to teenage years as well as her story and biographical information for the project. I met with the AG’s office earlier this week. Here is a email that details the project due to be completed this August, 2013. Good Afternoon, As Kevin mentioned in his email, we are in the process of updating our Michigan Cyber Safety (CSI) Initiative. Our team developed the Michigan Cyber Safety program which has helped educate over one million Michigan’s students on responsible online behavior and internet safety. We spend a significant amount of time addressing the impact of bullying and cyber bullying in this curriculum. In the sixth grade through eighth grade presentation, we highlight several children who have tragically taken their life because they didn’t want to face another day of being a victim of abuse at school. We are anticipating expanding our program in the high school this fall so that those students in the upper grades will benefit from the program. We developed a video called “Cyberbullying is Taking Lives” which features victims of cyberbullying across the United States who ended their life. You can view the video at michigan.gov/ag/0,4534,7-164-18155_48889_53869-262095--,00.html Because Michigan has suffered the loss of so many young, talented and gifted students due in part to bullying/cyberbullying, we felt it was crucial to acknowledge and recognize the loss of so many cherished lives. We believe that by featuring your child in a video which we will share with students in sixth – twelfth grade, we can reach out to a child who may have lost hope so they will get help before it is too late. This is why we are contacting you. We would like to ask for your permission to tell your child’s story in our upcoming video for 2013-2014 academic year. Attached is a form I would ask you to consider reviewing and if you are interested, we would feature your child. Please know that we will pay tribute to your child’s loving memory in a respectful, thoughtful manner.
