Friends of Gallatin Shelter (FOGS) On Wednesday, we posted that there was an emaciated Doberman being brought into the shelter, well, here she is and here is her story: This poor, poor dog was found by an Owen Electric worker in Gallatin County when he visited a property on Wednesday that the Owners had moved out from well over a month ago. This worker found this dog caged in an outside kennel with no food and no water. She was locked in this pen and had no way to get out. He contacted the Animal Control Officer and she was taken to the Shelter. She is SEVERELY emaciated. Can no longer stand on her own and has pressure sores on her body because of it. She has ulcers inside her mouth, eye infections and everything else you can imagine from not being given even a teaspoon of food or water for many, many days. This girl was taken to the Vet where they started giving her fluids and performed numerous test on her. They gave her a Body Condition Score of 1. This is as bad a score they can give, meaning one more day out there and she would have been dead. On Thursday morning she was transported to another Vet in Northern Ky as a WONDERFUL Rescue Group, SAAP, has taken this dog in and will try to save her life. As of last night, she was doing ok. Still alive and fighting to live. Vet staff says she is the sweetest girl ever and just seems so thankful to have some food, water and gentle hands now caring for her. Just what kind of person leaves a dog knowing they will have no food or water? How do they sleep at night? Please pray for this amazing, stoic dog that has suffered so much at the hands of her humans but has had the will to survive this long. and to the Owen Electric Worker that found her and reported this to Animal Control, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for not walking away, and for giving this precious dog a chance to know what a good life is, in a home where her people will cherish her for the rest of her days, a home where she will never go hungry again.
