Friends, there is a Board of Ed meeting tonight. There are meetings every two weeks. PLEASE COME TO THE MEETINGS. Our childrens lives are being dramatically impacted by a fundamental structural and curriculum education overhaul. As parents and taxpayers, we have been entirley excluded from this process. THESE ARE OUR CHILDREN. And their everyday lives, their thoughts and beliefs are being driven by a force we cant see or stop - unless we insist that we be allowed to exercise our parental rights to our voices in this process. We should not only have a voice, but we should be the driving force in this process. And yet we make barely a whisper while our childrens lives are literally being stolen from them. Ive been in this fight for a little over a year now. There are 861 members in this group and if Ive seen 40 of them at the meetings, its a lot. And more often than not there are no more than 5. There are several people who go or try to go to every meeting. But the board generally ignores our presence because they can. Because by and large, the community doesnt show up and thereby is allowing the board to ignore these incredible concerns. Common Core is a terrible and dangerous risk to our children and their futures. I cant for the life of me figure out why no one is willing to work to stop it. What are you doing instead? When will be the right time for you to stop what youre doing and protect your children? EVERYTHING is at stake here: Most importantly, your children. But in addition, our school property tax increase is on tonights agenda. Do you realize that the lives youre working and struggling to protect financially are being destroyed by unfunded mandates because were allowing ourselves to be driven by the system rather than take control of the system back? Do you realize that by every district teaching the same thing at the same time, your property values are about to be absolutely leveled against every other district in the state, and yet your taxes are going to go UP? Our way of life is crumbling before our eyes. The meetings are at the district offices: 167 Meyers Corners Rd., Wappingers Falls. If you really want to provide for your children, stop what youre doing and do what needs to be done: Take control of your children back from people who are USING them. Go to the meeting and tell the board to stop playing games with your childrens lives. (And your property values.) Shout out to the amazing warriors who have been carrying this fight!
