Friends, today we are deeply saddened as we learned late - TopicsExpress

Friends, today we are deeply saddened as we learned late yesterday, Sept. 17th of the death of our longtime friend Marvin Rainwater. I first saw Marvin in 1958 when he was on a show at the Minneapolis Armory with Johnny Cash. I loved his song “Gonna Find Me A Bluebird!” I developed a strong friendship with him after meeting him at “The Flame Theatre Café” on Nicolet Ave. in Minneapolis in 1960. He would often call me to play guitar for him on dates he played in the mid-west. He helped produce some of my early recordings and played organ on some cuts from a 1965 album of mine. We wrote many songs together. We would often go to “Kings Lanes” on Nicollet and bowl for several hours after doing our shows. Marvin was known to indulge and get a bit feisty sometimes, but he was always an upbeat and good friend and was there to help anyone he could. He was a very talented song writer and singer. I spoke with him by phone a couple of months ago. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and fans!
