Friends, we need your help responding to this exceedingly one-sided op-ed criticizing Israel’s defensive war against Hamas. Not surprisingly, the author left out many relevant facts. We encourage you to RESPECTFULLY comment online (click on the link to the Full Site at the bottom of the attached op-ed, so that the Star Tribune’s readers will know the truth of why Israel is fighting this defensive war against Hamas. Here are some facts not mentioned in the anti-Israel op-ed: - More than 3000 rockets fired by Hamas at Israel since the crisis began. - Hamas’ vast network of dozens of multi-million dollar terror tunnels, built with materials stolen from the people of Gaza, which are being readied by Hamas for mass terror and the kidnapping of Israeli civilians—including a mass terror attack planned for Rosh Hashanah 2014. -Israel’s exemplary efforts to avoid civilian deaths on both sides of the border while Hamas is either cynically indifferent to or welcomes the death of Gazan civilians. -The fact that this commentary appeared the same day that Hamas violated yet another humanitarian ceasefire by kidnapping an Israeli officer, killing two Israeli soldiers, and launching rockets at Israel less than two hours into the ceasefire. Even the United Nations has condemned Hamas for this. - The absence of photographs of Hamas fighters--hiding deep within bunkers in Gaza or in Qatar resorts--while ordinary Gazans suffer. - Any acknowledgment of the Hamas charter which calls not just for the destruction of Israel, but the death of Jews everywhere. startribune/opinion/commentaries/269616511.html
