Friendship The helping hand when you slip up, the cushion for your fall Or sound advice when you’re confused, the welcome when you call A friend is there when other’s flee, life’s trouble’s you must face As so call mates melt as the snow, retreats without a trace They never stop to count the cost, their time to you is free The guiding hand, the calming voice, the lifeboat on the sea A friend will tell you if you’re wrong, still love you faults and all Stand beside thru darkened times, when your back’s against the wall The pace of life and growing old may keep you long apart But next you meet time rolls away as at your friendships start A friend will share their hopes and fears and keep secrets secure When doubts abound as oft they do, a friend will re-assure A true friend is so hard to find, but worth their weight in gold So cherish them for all they do and to their friendship hold For life is full of ups and downs, we can’t go thru alone A friend will tell you lean on me, I will help you home Michael R J Wilson 21/4/14
