Frightening. Huber is a retired profession from Purdue who first articulated these ideas. He is a weed scientist and mainstream scientist not given to irresponsible claims. I think buying non-GMO foods is a very good idea. We should also support mandatory labeling of all GMO (genetically modified organisms) foods. Europe has banned the use and sale of GMO foods. They are widespread in the USA and most things made from corn or soybeans contain a GMO from Monsanto called Roundup Ready corn or soybeans. These are genetically modified corn and soybean plants that resist damage by the herbicide glyphosate, sold under the commercial name of Roundup. Farmers like these crops because they can spray Roundup on their crops to kill weeds and not have to worry about damaging the corn or soybean plants. As a result glyphosate (or Roundup - sold by Monsanto) is now used very widely; Monsanto controls both the genetically modified corn and soybean seeds and the herbicide Roundup. Dow Chemical is now coming out with a similar product line involving one of their herbicides. Protecting the health of children should be the number one priority of our government and society, yet corporate power has prevented even the requirement that gmo foods be labelled as such.
